Helping build a more open and interoperable metaverse
OpenSimulator had their annual community conference about a month ago on 6-7 December 2025.
It is a virtual conference happening in OpenSimulator, with a connected Expo area that remains accessible year round. Their hypergrid address is http://cc.opensimulator.org:8002/

We are a collective, using digital technologies to address the challenge of interacting with complex knowledge ecosystems. We use people-centric technology development to empower informed, accountable action from the bottom up. Using digital hyper-connected, integrated technologies - what we understand as the Metaverse - potentially gives grassroots initiatives the ability to contribute to the growing integrated knowledge ecosystem - the Metaverse as an ecosystem - and thereby scale their efforts and networks globally. We are looking for consortium members to pursue research funding, or strategic partnerships with companies interested in the commercial potential of these approaches. OMI, in collaboration with the Russian language groups RU, VRChatRU and the RockVR Club held a virtual presentation "VRConf" in VRChat on Tuesday 28 January 2025 at 17:00 UTC. We also bridged the event to our Discord Voice channel, to expand accessibility. The event was planned on github, where the page remains open for comments and feedback. The event was also live-streamed and is available on youtube.
